My fellow millennials, I have some news that might come as a shock to some of us.
I’ll give you a minute to pick your jaw up off the floor. God knows I needed to do so, too.
The middle ages
Granted, wikipedia might define middle aged as starting at 45, but let’s be real here. The oldest of us are turning 40 this year (or already have), and the vast majority of us are solidly in our 30s.
We’re no longer the kids we once were.
Of course, you wouldn’t know that looking at the “thought pieces” that like branding us as the demise of whatever the latest topic du jour is. But nonetheless.
We’re grown-ups. Grown-ups who have lived through not one, but two “once-in-a-lifetime” recessions. How’s that for continuing our over-achieving stereotypes? Grown-ups who are solidly into our careers, some of us on our second or third ones already. We have or are starting families. Hell, some of us are starting to take care of aging parents and deal with the #SuperFantasticFunness that is our bodies feeling like they’re falling apart.
In short, my fellow millennials, we’ve seen some shit. And we’re still here. That in and of itself is reason enough to celebrate.
Today’s post brought to you by LL’s actual Best 10 minutes that she mentioned a few weeks ago and then promptly failed to do. As per usual.
